Bullet starter - this tool gets the projectile started in the barrel and gives you better leverage than using just a ramrod. Knight sells many different types including Ball and T-handle styles. You can choose any type that you feel will work best for you.
Capper - this tool is used to hold percussion, musket caps, Red Full Plastic Jackets & 209 primers. They come in very handy because #11 caps are very tiny and are hard to handle with just your fingers. The capper also is great because you don't have to carry the tin of caps rattling around in your possibles bag or pocket.
Flask - this is a cylinder that can be used to hold Pyrodex® or Black Powder in a smaller amount than a 1 pound can. It also offers a a convenient spout to pour the powder into a powder measure. Our flask is solid brass.
Powder Measure - this is a brass or composite calibrated measuring device that you can pour your powder directly from your flask into the measure. The brass is measureable from 5 - 150 grains of powder.
#11 Percussion Caps, Musket Caps, Shotgun Primers - these are your kinds of ignitions depending on the type of muzzleloader you have. You will need to buy these to actually fire the muzzleloader. You can get these at your local, well-stocked gun or sporting goods store. Please read your instruction manual when choosing what type of cap you can or should use with your muzzleloader. If you have any questions about the caps or primers, please contact the manufacturer of the caps.

For old Knight models, refer to your owner's manual or call Knight's Customer Service for loading information on your specific model.

Knight® Rifles offer a variety of different models to choose from, all of which are capable of harvesting any big game animal. .50 and .52 caliber rifles, either of which are capable of harvesting big game animals. You might like to note, however, that the .52 caliber will have the better ballistics at the longer ranges, 200+ yards.
What kind of scope do you recommend for my Knight® Rifle?
The most typical scope used is the Fixed 4x Power. Any good quality rifle scope will handle the percussion of a muzzleloader.
How often do I need to clean my rifle?
After every day of shooting.
Should I use jacketed, lead or copper bullets?
We are finding the Knight® Red Hot, all copper bullets to be the most accurate. This style of bullet includes the Red Hot Barnes expander bullets and the Ultimate Slam Series Barnes bullets (Spitzer Boattails and Polymer Tip Boattails ).
Helpful hints to make accuracy easier to achieve.
  1. Remember that the 1st shot out of a clean bore will usually be different than those after the bore has been fouled.
  2. Your gun will shoot most accurately and consistently when swabbed after every shot. This is done by using a short strokes, gradually scrubbing you way down the bore with a damp patch, after every shot. The patch can be moistened with either saliva or black powder solvent (Knight EZ Clean #900109, with its squeeze and spray handle works perfect for swabbing ), a small amount is all that is needed, just to dampen a patch, as too much moisture will result in moisture being left in the bore. Do not run dry patches down the bore, as they will be very prone to sticking, since dry cloth doesn't compress, like a moistened cloth does.
  3. Use FFg black powder or Pyrodex Select for the most consistent results.
  4. Always be sure you are using fresh powder, as old powder can cause inconsistency. Once open, do not carry over to the next year, the black powder substitutes.
  5. In the .45 cal. rifles, the best accuaracy will typically be achieved with a .40 caliber bullet and a brown high pressure Knight sabot. In the .50 cali. rifles, it will be a .45 caliber bullet in a black high pressure Knight sabot. In the .52 cal. rifles, it will be a .458 or .475 caliber bullet in a high pressure Knight sabot. In the .54 cal. rifles, it will be a .50 caliber bullet in a purple high pressure Knight sabot.
  6. For better consistency, always use when possible a solid rest when shooting targets.

LOOSE POWDER:
The Knight Red Hot bullets are usually the most accurate in our rifles. Try varying powder charges from 90 up to the models maximum powder capacity in 10 grain increments, shooting three shot groups. [ Knight rifles have either a 120 or 150 grain max, depending on the model. All current 2006 models, have a 150 grain maximum powder charge. For other models, consult your owners manual or call Knight's Tech Support for info ] Return to the charge where the tightest groups were obtained and try varying the charge in smaller 5 grain increments, for a final fine tuning. If you've gone through this sequence with a particular bullet and still not achieved satisfactory results, it's time to try a different bullet. It may require a couple different Knight bullets to find the bullet that will work well for you, so buy them in small quantities to begin with. Once you've found the bullet of choice, then it's time to buy a year's supply.
PELLETED POWDER:
The Knight Red Hot bullets are usually the most accurate in our rifles. The pellets are made in 30 and 50 grain amounts. The pellets in two sizes, will allow you to mix and match anything from 80 - 150 grains, in 10 grain increments. Start your sighting in with 80 - 100 grains ( depending on the size of pellets you are using ). Shooting 3 shot groups, adjust your powder charges, working your way up to the maximum grain powder charge. [ Knight rifles have either a 120 or 150 grain max, depending on the model.
