In the mid-to-late 1800's, the rolling block rifle was immensely favored for its simple, effective, hard-to-mess-up design. In a rolling block gun, a specially shaped breechblock rotates on a pin to seal the breech. When the breechblock was rotated up, you could load the rifle or clean the bore and chamber. When the hammer moved forward it not only struck the firing pin, but closed the breech securely at the moment of discharge.
This intuitive, simple and easy-to-use action was incredibly strong and incredibly popular. The rolling block rifles produced during the 1800's used metal that cannot stand up to today's high-powered ammunition. Thankfully, Knight Rifles has been able to update the rolling block action for today's hunters. We employed the same simple, durable, easy-to-use design that made the rolling block rifles so popular, but updated with modern-day technology.
The Knight KRB7 .50 caliber's breech plug is totally removable and accepts a 209 primer, without having to use Full Red Jackets. We've also upgraded the barrels to Green Mountain Barrel Company's, some of the most accurate available. They have something unheard of in the 1800's: a guaranteed shot accuracy at 100 yards. They also come in stainless steel or blued, with Walnut Checkered with Recoil Pad, Sling Swivel Studs, Next G-1, or Black Composite. All of our black powder rifles combine traditional appeal with modern technology to give you authentic and accurate shooting ability.
