Phil's 8-Point Buck
Phil was deer hunting in Nebraska's velvet season when he took down this trophy 8-point buck from 150 yards. Using his Knight Vision muzzleloading rifle, Phil was able to achieve early season success. For optimum game performance, Phil needed bullets that would deliver superior accuracy, so his load of choice was the Knight PBT bullet from Barnes, with 150 grains of Triple 7 powder.
From the rubbed branches he examined while deer spotting, Phil knew he was tracking a buck with good-sized antlers. His familiarity with the ground paid off when he took down his 8-point buck.
With only a small window of time to capture early-season bucks in velvet season, deer hunters must put in their scouting time and take to the stands early with patience and determination.
