A 9-Point Buck On His First Deer Hunting Trip

Austin and his whitetail deer

Austin took down this buck on his first deer hunt.

Austin Davidson bagged a 9-point, 205-pound buck on November 18, 2007, the first day of the deer hunting season in Indiana. The fact that this was 9-year-old Davidson's first deer hunt made the day extra special.

After two-and-a-half hours in the treestand with his father, Steve Helton, Davidson saw the buck come out at 50 yards.

Helton called the shot "a perfect double lung shot."

Davidson took down the 126-inch beast using his Knight Long Range Hunter with 250-grain, super-slam bullets with 110 grain FFF.

"What a great first deer this was," Helton said of the hunt. "Thanks so much for a great product."
